Morning Routine to Start a Healthy Day

Like most people, I like to start my day with hope and good/happy thoughts about the future and what it means to be alive. But in order to reap the full benefits of what it means to be a morning person, one should always perform some sort of 'start up your day' routine. Different people have different opinions on the matter, but here I am going to post a simple to follow schedule, which is guaranteed to promote healthy and peaceful beginnings of any busy and otherwise unpleasant day.

Waking up

When a person wakes up, it is imperative that he does so on his own free will. It is best to throw your alarm clock in the garbage, although if you are seriously having that much trouble getting up, then you should rethink your evening routines as well. The best thing to do is to wake up about hour and a half before going to work. If you don't go to work, then you will probably miss the point of this article. There is a trick I have come up with ever since I started going to work 10 years ago. Whenever I feel tired and simply abhor the idea of going to work, I take a whiff from a rag, which I have previously soaked in some sort of a strong scented perfume. The smell acts as a waking up mechanism, which is way more pleasant than the 'snooze' button on your alarm clock, and will not cause stress and agitation.

Washing away the sleepiness

The first thing one should do after waking up is taking a shower. I doesn't necessarily have to be a cold shower, god forbid; but rather a nice relaxing hot shower to cleanse the body from all the troubles of the night. Brushing your teeth is also recommended, for even if you have brushed them the night before, the microbes that survived the first brushing, are well and live, wreaking havoc in your oral cavity.

Making Breakfast

Breakfast in beyond any doubt the single, most important meal of the day, period. It gives you all the essential vitamins and nutrients that the body needs in order to run smoothly and without a glitch. Some people decide to skip breakfast and go directly for lunch, but this is quite unhealthy and can lead to obesity and blood pressure problems as well as diabetes. Your breakfast should consists of all the important food groups, such as meat, milk, cheese, eggs, vegetables, bread etc. You can alternate between eating two strips of bacon with eggs one day, and a healthy platter of assorted vegetables the other. You should combine your breakfast with something like a freshly-squeezed carrot or orange juice, just so it can give your immune system an extra boost and resilience.

Exercise

If you are like me and spend most of your day in the office, then you are certainty not getting the much needed exercise that will keep you healthy and psychically active in your old age. Doing about 30 minutes of cardio training will exponentially improve your overall mood, strength, agility and will help you reduce body weight, if body weight is an issue. You can go out for a jog, or better yet get yourself a bicycle and go to work the healthy, eco-friendly way! Treadmills are also a great alternative, especially during the winter months. By doing moderate exercise you will increase your productivity, not only at home but at work as well.
